September 20th and 21st from 9:00am – 4:00pm each day.
Forage and Gather Workshop for all skill levels using immersion dyeing with locally gathered plants. This 2 day workshop will focus on gathering plants and preparing them for dyeing. We will discuss what makes a plant a viable dye stuff and how to collect it in a sustainable way to apply that colour to fabric. We will dye with 10 different foraged and gathered plants and lichens. We will use a combination of wild gathered plants and cultivated plants. Each participant will dye a variety of fibres for samples as well as a napkin in each of the 10 dye baths. All materials will be provided.
Location: Porters Lake NS, This session will take place at Joanna Close’s home studio on Porters Lake.
